OK, so you’ve filed your tax return (hopefully on time) and now you’re expecting a refund.
You have just one question and you want the answer now - Where the bleep is My Refund??
Well the good news is that you can access this secure IRS Web site to find out if the IRS received your return and the status of your refund.
You can also begin a refund trace online if you have not received your check within 28 days from the original IRS mailing date.
You may also be able to correct or change your mailing address within this application if your check was returned to us as undelivered by the U.S. Postal Service.
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
To get to your refund status, you’ll need to provide the following information as shown on your return:
- Click here to go to the IRS Web site
- Your Social Security Number (or IRS Individual Taxpayer Identification Number)
- Your Filing Status, (Single, Married Filing Joint Return, Married Filing Separate Return, Head of Household, or Qualifying Widow(er))
- The Refund amount (It is important to enter the refund amount exactly as it is shown on your return in order for our computer system to retrieve your data)
